School Councillors are elected representatives from each of the classes in both Key stage 2 and Key stage 1. At the start of the academic year all pupils get the opportunity to nominate a person whom they feel can represent them well on the council.

In due course after considering the candidates, pupils vote by secret ballot

Two children from each class are then elected and attend School Council meetings, these are the class representatives. These children relay any points covered during the council meeting. This allows all the children to be aware of any events or discussions being held in the School Council. It also encourages the children voice any ideas or suggestions of events that could be brought up by their class representative.

Council meetings are held on several occasions during each term and are involved in making a range of decisions and deciding upon a range of initiatives - Toast Week has been a particular favourite! Funds raised from this venture (which is organised and run by the pupils) go to fund a pre selected project or charity.

A key element of the work of the council is to encourage pupils to take a responsible approach to decision making, to make them develop confidence in expressing their opinions, to feel their thoughts and judgments are valued and to act for the benefit of the whole school community.
