It's not hard to guess how these monkeys got their name: with their long black limbs and tail they look rather spidery, especially when they climb upside down in the branches.

Did you know?

Spider monkeys spend most of their lives in the very tops of the trees in the Columbian rainforest, hardly ever coming down to ground level.

Wow!

Spider monkeys use their long tail as an extra limb. They can even swing from branches with it, supporting their full weight!
