and white ruffed lemur is very beautiful, with long, soft fur and striking
black and white markings. Its rainforest home in Madagascar is being cut
down, so it is becoming very rare. |

This type
of lemur is the largest member of the lemur family. |

In the
wild, ruffed lemurs are said to be the noisiest of all primates. Their alarm
call can be deafening and is heard for miles around. At the Wildlife Park
our ruffed lemurs feel very safe and secure, so they rarely make any noise!
