Green-winged
macaw
This strikingly
handsome bird lives in South American rainforests, where its bright colours
actually camouflage it quite well amongst the bright leaves and flowers.
It is a member of the parrot family. |
The macaw's
strong beak can crack the hard shells of things like brazil nuts. This means
that it can feed on things that most other birds find too difficult to eat. |
A pair
of macaws will stay together for their whole lives, hardly ever leaving
each other's side. Tame macaws have been known to live for 80 years. |
