Close cousins of camels, guanacos come from dry, wide-open grasslands - often high in the mountains.They have thick woolly coats to keep them warm.

Did you know?

The guanaco's eyes are on the sides of its head so that it can see all around to watch out for danger. (Our eyes are at the front.)

Guanacos can go for many days without drinking.
