The black
markings across the raccoon's face make it look rather like a masked bandit!
Raccoons are common in the U.S.A, where they have learnt to live alongside
people. It's not unusual to see them searching for food in rubbish bins.

During the cold winter,
raccoons stay in their dens for most of the time, living off stored body
fat. They do not actually hibernate, though.

|
Raccoons' paws, which
look rather like human hands, are very sensitive and nimble - they have
even been known to open doors. |
