Bounding along on its big, powerful back legs, the red-necked wallaby is a common sight in parts of Australia and Tasmania.

Just like its larger cousin, the kangaroo, it carries its baby in a pouch on its tummy.

Did you know?

A baby wallaby (called a joey) is bald, blind and only about the size of your thumb when it is born. It crawls into its mother's pouch and attaches itself to her teat, feeding on milk and living in the safety of the pouch until it is big enough to look after itself.

Wow!

A red-necked wallaby can bound along at over 64 km per hour!
