Ring-tailed lemur |
Lemurs are primates (in the same animal group as monkeys, apes and people) They come from the island of Madagascar, off the coast of Africa. Many different kinds of lemur live there. |
Ring-tailed lemurs live in groups of between 3-25 males, females and young. The females are in charge! Other types of lemur usually live in smaller groups. |
Male ring-tailed lemurs have "stink fights" in which they rub their tails with scent from scent glands, then wave them at their opponents. Needless to say, they don't injure each other in these "fights"! | |
