  • Gas and OFTEC training to be provided on Isle of Man

    Engineers will be able to keep up-to-date with industry required gas, OFTEC and unvented hot water training and accreditation on the Isle of Man starting in the Spring. It comes after the Department of Education, Sport and Culture (DESC) appointed Energy Development Services (EDS) Limited to deliver a range of courses on a two year contract.   • Olympic snowboarder to be guest at Isle of Man Sports Awards

    Olympic snowboarder Zoe Gillings-Brier will be the guest of honour this month’s Isle of Man Sport Awards. Gillings-Brier is the first and only British snowboarder to compete at four Winter Games, with her best result seeing her reach the final of the boarder-cross event in 2010 in Vancouver. She retired from competition soon after fighting back from serious injury to compete at the PyeongChang Games in 2018, and now runs a training academy for aspiring skiers and snowboarders in Austria.   • School validation process paves way for new era of education improvement

    A new external validation process will get underway initially in five Isle of Man schools next week before it is rolled out across all educational settings and services. Each validation visit will be undertaken as part of an overall 6-8 week programme.   • Castle Rushen High School: Indicative masterplan made public and includes pool

    An indicative plan to redevelop Castle Rushen High School has been made public and includes a new swimming pool.     An opportunity for three artists to design five artwork panels on Douglas Promenade. A partnership between the Department of Infrastructure and the IOM Arts Council.   • Isle of Man Sports Awards shortlist revealed

    The shortlist for next month’s Isle of Man Sports Awards has been unveiled. It includes some of the stand out performers from last summer’s Island Games in Guernsey where the Manx team won 63 medals, including 20 golds. The shortlist also includes past winners Yasmin Ingham and Mark Cavendish, although the latter is shortlisted as an ambassador for Manx sport.
